This just in… another six safety stories.

By Matt King

Spoiler alert.

Ignorance has seen the downfall of many a person: Megatron in Transformers, Saruman and Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, and ol’ Voldie in Harry Potter. Even the White Witch in the Narnia books lost because she didn’t know about… well, you get the picture.

  • “I’m melting, I’m melting,” says the worker: A heavy heat has arrived throughout Canada, and here are some ways to keep cool and safe while on the job site.
  • So you talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? Vancouver’s city council is trying to make pedestrian safety a top priority.
  • Strangers on a train: In Parry Sound, ON, police are doing their best to teach youth about train safety. Train accidents are on the rise, and these have often resulted in serious brain injury.
  • Their future is in the toilet: Some students in Cobourg, ON get WHMIS training and more while scrubbing bathrooms in the summer.
  • Personal Protective Equipment, read all about it! This press release has tons of good information about the importance of wearing your PPE.
  • Four by four broken limbs: If you drive an ATV at work or for recreation, this article is for you.
  • Man or woman, injuries don’t care. In BC, the highest rate of injury still belongs to young male workers, but there has also been a rise in the number of female workplace injuries. Check it out.

And that’s the safety news of the week. Have a great, safe, supervillain-free weekend!

  1. This is a fascinating article. The Heads Up campaign is truly genius. One question, though – where are the videos with the guy with the hair?
