Casper the Friendly Safety Ghost

By: Christopher Vervoorst

Halloween is quickly approaching so I thought we should talk about costume safety.

Plus, this gives me an excuse to make the rest of the Heads Up team wear costumes.

For me, the best part about Halloween is dressing up and coming up with an awesomely creative costume. This year I’ve decided to be a bed sheet ghost. I know, it’s pretty awesome. But while making the costume I discovered a few safety features that you’ll want to make sure your costume has.

Don’t ask how.

1.If you’re wearing a mask/sheet make sure the eye holes are large enough so that you can see your surroundings clearly.

Much Better

2. Make sure that you can breathe in your costume. Nothing is more embarrassing then being a terrifying creature of the night and passing out when you walk through a fog machine.
3. If possible, don’t even wear a mask at all. Face paint is a great alternative that not only allows you to see clearly and breathe,  you can do some pretty creative things with it as well.

So you’ve got your jack-o-lantern, a safe costume, and are ready to go out on the town. What else is left?

Let’s just say it has something to do with that Hawaiian shirt Megan keeps going on about on our twitter account.

Until then, make sure to keep your head up and trust your gut.
